Anne J. Neilson, age 97, of Brooksby Village in Peabody, formerly a longtime resident of Winchester, passed away on January 13, 2026.

Born in New York City, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Pettigrew) Neilson, Jr. She was raised and educated in Westfield, New Jersey, a suburb of New York City, and was a graduate of Westfield High School with the class of 1945. Anne attended Wheaton College and received her B.A. in 1949 and went on to receive an honorary PhD in Science from Wheaton College in 2009.

Anne enjoyed a long and successful career at Arthur D. Little, Inc., as a flavor chemist in the food industries section from 1949 until her retirement in 1991. In Winchester, Anne enjoyed involvement in many clubs and organizations in town throughout her life, including as a longtime member of the Parish of the Epiphany, the Winton Club, and the En Ka Society. She was a trustee emerita of Wheaton College and also carved out some time to play a round of golf. She was a lifelong Yankees fan. She enjoyed many summers at her homes in East Orleans and Mattapoisett.

In addition to her affability, availability and generosity in volunteering with the local women’s clubs supporting the Winchester community and Winchester Hospital, her leadership skills extended to Brooksby Village, where she was a member of the Resident Advisory Council. She enjoyed playing Bridge weekly with her friends.

Anne was the dear sister of the late John R. Neilson. She leaves behind her nephews: Robert T. “Tim” Neilson and his wife Margaret B. of Ridgewood, NJ. She was also the great-aunt of John T. and Reagan M. Neilson.
