Claudine Lavers, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of the family she adored. Born on November 25, 1946, in Medford, Massachusetts, Claudine was raised in Winchester and spent her life collecting stories, making people laugh, offering wisdom, and loving her family fiercely.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Rogers (née Nolan) and Thomas Rogers. She is survived by her sister, Stephanie Rogers; her son, Charles Lavers; her daughter and son-in-law, Jaclyn and Matthew Bown; and the grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy, Thomas, Paige, and Declan Bown.

After attending Boston University, Claudine embarked on what would become a remarkable 40-year career as a flight attendant.

Of all the roles Claudine played in life, however, being a mother was the one that mattered most. She raised her children as a single mother, giving them not only her love and devotion but also a lifetime supply of wisdom. Claudine had a saying for just about everything life could throw at you. Whether you were facing heartbreak, frustration, a difficult decision, or simply one of life's everyday absurdities, she likely had the perfect phrase—and she usually delivered it with impeccable timing.

She was profoundly wise, wonderfully funny, and never short on an opinion or a story. She had a gift for making people laugh and for putting life's problems into perspective. Her humor and wisdom were inseparable.

Claudine loved going to the gym, spending time with her family, and being a grandmother. One of her favorite connections was sharing a birthday with her firstborn grandchild, Thomas—a bond that made November 25th an especially meaningful day for them both.

More than anything, Claudine will be remembered for the way she loved her family. She was the kind of mother and grandmother whose presence could make life feel a little funnier, a little wiser, and a little more manageable. She leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply, laugh often at the memories and stories she left behind, and carry her words—and undoubtedly a few of her famous sayings—with them always.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 4-7PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 26 @ 10AM in St. Eulalia's Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial is private.
