Douglas P. Pierson, age 75, of Winchester, Mass., passed away after a brief illness on August 12, 2026. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, he spent his formative years in Oakbrook, Ill., and Greenwich, Conn. After a year at Notre Dame, Doug enlisted in the Marine Corps and served as a Corporal during the Vietnam era. He completed a B.S. degree in Accounting at the University of Maine in Orono in 1977. Following graduation, he went to work for several large computer companies in and around Boston while also earning his Masters in Computer Science from Bentley University.

Doug is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ellen Carlisle; sister Cindy Carroll and her husband, Marty, of Lower Gwyned, Penn., and Naples, Fla., brother Steve Pierson and his wife, Jamie, of Portland, Ore, and brother Charles Pierson of Cottonwood, Ariz.; sisters-in-law Robin Carlisle of Bedford, N.H., Lindsay Carlisle and spouse Mary Babcock of Concord, Mass., and brother-in-law Stephen Carlisle of Providence, R.I.; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary (Coleman) Pierson.

Doug had many interests outside of work. He enjoyed tennis and golf and loved hiking in the White Mountains of N.H. He was also an accomplished self-taught carpenter and spent many hours working on his and Ellen’s home. Doug was the family computer and electronics expert and was constantly called upon to answer questions, and he did so willingly, patiently and in great detail. He loved his cats, and they loved him back. In retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at Winchester Hospital. He spent many summers working on and relaxing at the family cottage in Surry, Maine, a place that was near and dear to his heart.

At Doug’s request there will be no service. The burial will be private.
