Eric T. Shediac of Winchester, MA passed away peacefully and was wrapped in God’s loving grace on May 9, 2026, at the age of 59. Eric undertook every treatment available to him with optimism, perseverance and remarkable strength in his efforts to regain his health during his 10-month battle with cancer. He spent his final days surrounded by his beloved family and dear friends as they together recounted stories of his gregarious nature and hilarious antics of years past. Eric’s life was indeed marked with levity and laughter, yet his commitment to excellence in his work as a commercial transactional attorney never wavered. Throughout his 30-year career, he advised clients on increasingly sophisticated commercial transactions, but he was always particularly gratified when his work allowed him to assist new or small business owners, helping to bring dreams and ideas to fruition. Eric was proud to be Of Counsel in the Banking, Finance, and Lending Department as well as the Commercial Real Estate Group at the law firm, Roberto, Israel & Weiner, P.C.

Eric valued serving his community and did so informally through his readiness to lend a hand to friends, neighbors, and anyone in need and more formally through his work as an engaging Town Meeting member who thoughtfully participated in Winchester’s governance. His commitment to community was further manifested by his active volunteering with youth sports throughout his sons’ younger years. At one time or another, Eric served as an assistant coach for basketball, football, baseball, and hockey teams, always with warmth, humor, and commitment to the young players.

Above all, though, Eric’s greatest accomplishment was the love he showed his family as a husband, son, and brother, but especially as a father. It was not only his devotion to family, but it was his absolute delight in spending time with them that colored his family life. Eric’s strongest desire and the greatest source of strength in fighting his recent illness was his desire to have more time with his boys, to be there to support them in their future accomplishments and setbacks. To stand beside them as they continue to grow. To laugh and tease, enjoy sports, and to continue to smoothly exchange quotes with them from lines of absurd movie characters. Eric was enormously proud of his boys and served as a model for them of faith, strength, kindness, humility, hard work, and humor.

Eric was the beloved husband of Su Lan Chen Shediac and is missed dearly. He is forever adored by his sons, Jack, Frank, and Connie Shediac. Cherished son of Carol and Ted Shediac. Dear brother of Ted Shediac and wife, Carolyn; and Jaqueline (Shediac) Brunell and husband, Michael. Much loved uncle of Alexandra (Shediac) Czarnota and husband Joseph; Andrew Shediac and wife Callie and their children, Jamie, William, and Matthew; and Michael and Logan Brunell. Eric cherished his many more nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends. He was a lifelong, best friend to Carl Engel, with whom together they generated many great stories. Eric will be missed by all.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington Street, Winchester, on Thursday, May 21st at 10am. All are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington Street, Winchester, on Wednesday, May 20th from 5pm to 8pm. Ashes will be scattered at sea in a private ceremony this summer. Please join the family for an informal Celebration of Life reception following Mass at the Winchester Country Club, 468 Mystic Street, Winchester.
