Frances A.
Rogers
December 24, 1940 – June 8, 2026
Frances “Fran” A. Rogers was a feisty Sicilian born on Christmas Eve 1940 in Boston Massachusetts. As her dear next door neighbor for 25 years described her, she was the sweetest, funniest, strongest, stubbornest, most generous and caring woman that one would know. Fran died unexpectedly early Monday morning on 6/8/26 against her will and with many more years to celebrate.
Fran was a dedicated wife for over 49 years, devoted mother, sister, mother in law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Her door was always open and her dinner table was always full. She loved the company of friends and family and went out of her way to make gatherings, holidays and dinners memorable.
Fran was born in the West End of Boston close to where she passed. Her family moved to Winchester where Fran met her husband Jack on the train to Boston. They married and eventually moved from Arlington to Lexington to Maynard in 1987. While in Maynard Fran worked at the then Stratus, Entropy, Essco and L3 Communications. After her husband Jack took sick in 2010 she semi retired, but started volunteering at Emerson Hospital where she and Jack had received such great care over the years. Fran continued her dedication for a decade up until the start of the Covid 19 pandemic. She also worked at Acton pharmacy after Jack’s death in 2014 where she created many friendships with staff and customers.
Fran was predeceased by her parents Francis J. Morello and Anna F. Morello (Saraceno); her husband Edward J. Rogers (Jack) and her sister Marie V. Rousseau. She was the best caring and loving mother of Donald Rogers and mother in law to his wife Lisa, the greatest Nana of all time to Kayleen and her husband Chris Bowden, Brady and Gavin Rogers, and Great Nana to Avery and Gideon Bowden. Fran was the sister of Nancy Morello, Dominic Morello (Gail) and Anne Sweeney (her scotch buddy - Wayne) and dear friend to family friend Barbara Andrews. They all held special places in her heart with too many memories to list.
Fran was the aunt of Jennifer Rickard (Ned), David Morello (Laura), Paul Morris, Jeremy Maki (Kim), Joshua Snell, and Aaron Snell (Adrienne). Whether near or far, her door was always open and her telephone was always ready.
Fran’s friendship extended beyond borders. Everywhere she went, a friendship was created. Barbara Fang (George), Marie and Larry Ting, Rosemarie and Norm Bein, Barbara Senna (Donald) began their bonds in the 1960’s before their kids were born. They partied like the best of them and the bonds still exist. From poker to Mahjong with many scotches, manhattans, stingers and cigarettes in between, there was always fun to be had.
When Donald met his wife Lisa a new family entered her life. Doreene and Richard Marchesseault and their children Doug (Rebecca), Ken (Helen) and Christie (Mark), created many memories for almost 4 decades. From weddings, birthdays, graduations and numerous cookouts, a good time was had by all. Lobsters, filets, burgers and dogs were always on the menu. She loved having them visit and always kept them in her thoughts and prayers.
Fran and her family were grateful for her Deer Hedge Community. Whether it was carrying in her groceries, shoveling out her car, or giving her a tush push to get up the stairs, the love and care her Deer Hedge friends gave her was amazing. Her neighbors, Nicky and Joe Bodenrader watched out for her for over 25 years. She loved hosting dinners with them as well as her many friends from Deer Hedge, Acton Pharmacy and Emerson. She watched neighbors come and go, but remained in touch with many of them. Fran and her family were one of the first families to move to Deer Path in 1987.
The family would like to thank Emerson Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital for all the unbelievable care she received over the years. The commitment and dedication shown to her from everyone she encountered was amazing and admirable.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Saturday June 20th at 10am followed by a funeral procession at noon to Wildwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Emerson Health Foundation https://emersonhealth.org/support/ways-to-give/donate/
