Obituary

Gloria Jean (Carlson) Parker, 82, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away March 17. She was the beloved wife for 60 years of George R. Parker, Sr. Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Anna Carlson. A homemaker, Mrs. Parker and her husband raised and educated their children in Winchester, where she was and avid supporter of the Winchester Little League. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Winchester for many years and volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher. Gloria was a lunch mother at her children's schools, loved to bake and enjoyed tea parties with her friends. Mrs. Parker also enjoyed vacationing with her family in Orleans, on Cape Cod. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: George R. Parker Jr. of Winchester, John Parker of Londonderry, NH and Linda DeRosa of Dracut. She was the dear grandmother of Keith Parker, Brianna and Nicholas DeRosa, John Jr. and Julia Parker and was the sister of the late Aleda Johnson. Her funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Thurs. March 22 at 9AM followed by a Funeral Service in the Second Congregational Church, 485 Washington St., Winchester, at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Wed. from 4-8PM. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers donations in Gloria's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
