Jessica Lynne
Schoffel
d. Jul 17, 2026
Acton, MA
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Jessica Lynne Schoffel, 44, of Acton MA, on July 17, 2026. Her death was sudden from natural causes.
Jess was born in Lewisburg, PA, October 8, 1981, to Linda and Rob Schoffel. She grew up in Trumansburg, NY where she graduated from Charles O. Dickerson High School in 1999. She returned to Lewisburg to attend Bucknell University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2003 with a degree in Elementary Education. A highlight of her time at Bucknell was serving as a Manager for the Men’s Basketball Team. Her next adventure took her to Boston where she earned an EDM in Special Education from Boston University. She loved the Boston area and made it her home for the next 22 years, teaching in Littleton Public Schools and making friends who became family.
From a young age Jess navigated life with a profound sense of strength and independence. Her kind, generous and creative spirit, positive energy and sense of humor were appreciated by all who knew her. Her “Book Club” friends in MA became family and their yearly traditions were the stuff of legends.
She was a gifted and engaging teacher with an incredible way of connecting with and inspiring her students at Russell Street Elementary School, many of whom came back to volunteer in her classroom. She incorporated her love of basketball and particularly the WNBA into the classroom, ensuring that her students understood the importance of passionate, friendly competition in bringing out the best in people. Outside of the classroom, Jess was a dedicated member of the Littleton Education Association, serving as a long-time officer and tireless advocate and champion for students across the district.
Jess is survived by her parents, Linda and Rob Schoffel of Interlaken NY, her aunt and uncle, Marcia and Bruce Humphrey, and beloved cousins, Sarah, Jenny and Emily and their families, and close friends and adopted family Diana and Wil Millard, Cory, Tuck and their families. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to GoFundMe Honoring Jessica Schoffel With a Buddy Bench (https://gofund.me/5968372ff). The bench(s) will become part of the Trumansburg Playground, a special place to Jessica, Linda and Rob who all worked on the original playground build in 1987.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, September 27 at the North Pavilion at Taughannock State Park, 1:00-4:00PM. Please join us to share stories, pictures and plenty of memories and hugs.
