Obituary
John Markiewicz, age 85, of Brooksby Village in Peabody, formerly of Lynnfield and Woburn, MA, passed away on June 19, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Sheila (Flaherty) Markiewicz.
Born in Chelsea, John was the son of the late John and Mary (Makarewicz) Markiewicz. He was raised and educated in Chelsea and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army. When he returned, he worked as a sales representative in electronics, ultimately becoming the owner of Holbrook Associates, an electrical agency specializing in and servicing commercial buildings.
In addition to his wife, Sheila, John is survived by his brothers: Thomas Markiewicz and his late wife Brenda, of Woburn, and Michael Markiewicz and his wife Nancy, and their son, Stephen Markiewicz, all of Melrose.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Tuesday, July 1 at 11:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the service from 10-11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 https://www.stjude.org .
