Obituary

Kathleen M. “Kate” Sullivan, age 76, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away on October 28, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Timothy F. and Kathleen M. (Pryor) Sullivan.

Born in Framingham, she was raised in Winchester as a member of a large and closeknit Irish family. Kate was a graduate of Arlington Catholic High School and Virginia Intremont College in Bristol, VA. She enjoyed a long and successful career teaching eighth grade for over 40 years at Our Lady of the Assumption in Lynnfield. A former colleague shared how Kate’s extraordinarily fierce Irish loyalty extended beyond her family circle into her devoted friendships and her classroom. Her steadfastness in her devotion to her students was unsurpassed and she experienced genuine pride and pleasure in their successes long after they left her classroom.

In her spare time, Kate enjoyed spending time making memories with family and friends at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. She was also a cheerleading coach at Winchester High School in the late 1970’s to early 80’s, where she surely revealed her fun, Irish spirit. As a guilty pleasure she would sometimes slow down and unwind by watching shows on the Hallmark Channel.

One of eight children, Kate was the dear sister of Timothy F. Sullivan, Jr., of Winchester, Janet M. Sullivan of Winchester, Maureen A. Calabro of NH, Joan Ellen Sullivan of CA, Julie K. Sullivan of Maynard and the late Terence D. Sullivan and Anne M. Sullivan. She also leaves behind many friends and former contemporaries.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 5-7 PM, and again on Tuesday, November 3, at 9 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
