Marjory Joan "Midg"
Hulnick
d. Jun 22, 2026
Costello Funeral Home
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Marjory “Midg” Joan Hulnick, PhD, of Winchester, passed away on June 22, 2026. Midg was the only child of the late Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Hulnick of Staten Island, NY.
She was raised and educated on Staten Island, graduating as Valedictorian and Vice President of her class at Curtis High School. This is where Midg picked up the nickname of “Mighty Midg” for her volleyball skills.
Midg went on to Mt. Holyoke College to earn her bachelor’s degree and later in life to Boston College to earn her master’s and PhD degrees.
Midg lived in Brookline, MA for many years and worked at MCI Shirley, Bridgewater State Hospital, MCI Concord and later in life as the Fall River/ Hyannis/Taunton court clinical psychologist. It was there that she cultivated her innate passion for rehabilitating and helping criminal offenders.
In her life after work, Midg moved to Venice, FL to enjoy the warmer weather. Known for her artistic flair and talents, “Midg”, as she was genially known, enjoyed painting on canvas, collecting interesting artwork and floral arranging. She also enjoyed cooking, creating stunning, decadent and delicious desserts, and loved finding the best deals and bargain hunting.
In 2008 Midg adopted her beloved Shih Tzu “Shadow” and they were together for 13 ½ years. If you invited Midg over for dinner, you had better have room for Shadow, as they came as a package.
Midg is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Perez and her husband Joseph of Chicago, IL. She also leaves two granddaughters, Carlyn and Cassandra Perez. Midge also leaves her best friend/life partner Mark Calabro of Winchester.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by burial in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. If desired, donations in her memory to support Type 1 Diabetes research may be made to Breakthrough T1D at www.breakthrought1d.org
