Obituary

Paul G. Fay, age 64, of Woburn, formerly of Winchester, passed away suddenly on May 21, 2016.

Born in Winchester, Paul was the son of the late Alexander and Grace (Fitzsimmons) Fay. He was raised and educated in Winchester and graduated from Winchester High School with the Class of 1980.

Paul became a Master plumber after high school and worked in the family business, Fay Plumbing and Heating, alongside his father and brother. He later joined the Winchester Department of Public Works, where he served as Director of Facilities for more than 25 years. Through his work and longtime ties to Winchester, he formed many lasting friendships in the community.

Paul enjoyed boating in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and spending time outdoors, especially four-wheeling with his children near Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham, NH.

Paul is survived by his children: Paul Fay and his wife Mariana of Cheshire, MA; Rachel Pickering and her husband Jonathan of Arlington; John Fay and his fiancée Johanna of Hudson, MA; and Brian Fay and his girlfriend Emma of Medford. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Leah Allen, Trinity Cruz-Mercado, Jackson Pickering, and Harper Pickering.

He was the youngest of seven siblings: Mary Ciarcia and her late husband Michael of Ridgefield, CT; Patty Dimetres and her husband Wayne of Okatie, SC; Jeannie Barry and her husband Jim of North Attleboro; Peggy Fay-McMillan of Gulf Breeze, FL; Al Fay of Woburn; and Stephen Fay and his wife Diane of Wayland. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 1 at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend and are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
