Regina Alexion Cokkinias, lovingly known as Reggie or Vaso (Vasiliki), was born on April 26, 1953, in New Bedford, Massachusetts to the late Lazarus Alexion and Angelica (Kiki) Yankopolus Alexion. She departed this life on April 08, 2026, in Winchester, Massachusetts, after a severe infection.
Reggie was the beloved wife of Peter Cokkinias, whom she married in 1986. Together they built a wonderful home in Winchester, MA surrounded by beautiful gardens and frequent visitors. She was the cherished mother of Casey Cokkinias, and her love for her daughter was deep and constant. She is also survived by her dear sister Joan Lorenz and her husband Jim, as well as her beloved niece and nephew Kimberly and Lucas Lorenz, as well as many loving cousins. Her home was further warmed (and covered in fur) by the presence of her rambunctious cat, Little One.
Reggie graduated from Barrington College in 1975 with a degree in Music Education. She went on to work as an elementary school music teacher in New Bedford and later Malden Public Schools. She then worked as a kindergarten aide in the Lexington and Winchester Public Schools. Most recently, she served as a Sunday school teacher at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church: a role that united her faith, her culture, and her lifelong gift for nurturing children.
Music was a true companion throughout the seasons of her life. She played the double bass and the piano, and it was in an orchestra where she met her husband. She enjoyed walks around Horn Pond in Woburn with her friends, where conversation and friendship brought her joy. A devoted bird aficionado, she filled her yard with a multitude of feeders and delighted over her small visitors.
Her home was a place of celebration. She decorated for every holiday, gathered people around the table, and baked baklava she was convinced was the best around (it was!). Those who were blessed to know Reggie will remember her laughter, kindness, and care. She was a woman whose presence could lighten a room, and whose words (and abundant use of emojis) could comfort a weary heart. She carried herself with a quiet dignity that did not seek applause yet earned admiration all the same.
Though we grieve her passing, we give thanks for the years she was granted and for the blessing of her love and companionship. May the memory of Reggie/Vaso be a comfort to all who loved her. For she was, in truth, a gentle light among us, and her spirit shall be remembered with enduring love.
